History of the Organization

“Kwara State Youth CAN (YOWICAN) was established in [Year] with a vision to bring together Christian youth in Kwara State under a unified platform for spiritual growth, leadership development, and community service. Over the years, we have grown into a dynamic organization, impacting lives through various programs and initiatives.”

Mission and Vision

• Mission: “To disciple, develop, and deploy Christian youth as effective leaders in their communities and beyond.”

• Vision: “A generation of Christian youth who are equipped and empowered to influence society positively for Christ.”

Core Values (CHAMPION)

• Christ Ambassadors: We represent Christ in all we do, living as His ambassadors in our communities.

• Helping Hands: We are committed to extending a helping hand to the needy and less privileged, embodying the love and compassion of Christ.

• Active Faith: We are committed to living out our faith in every aspect of our lives, demonstrating our beliefs through our actions.

• Mentorship and Coaching: We dedicate ourselves to mentoring and coaching the next generation, guiding them toward success and spiritual growth.

• Preaching the Gospel: We are devoted to preaching the Gospel and evangelizing, spreading the message of Christ to all.

• Inter-religious Tolerance: We promote understanding, respect, and harmony among people of different faiths, fostering peaceful coexistence.

• Opportunities for Empowerment: We strive to empower individuals by providing opportunities for personal, spiritual, and leadership growth.

• Nurturing Leadership: We believe in nurturing and developing young leaders who will make a lasting, positive impact on society.

The acronym CHAMPION encapsulates the essence of these core values, reflecting a commitment to being champions for Christ and for the society.

OBJECTIVES

1) To serve as a basis of response to the unity of the Christian Youths and the Church, especially as contained in our Lord’s pastoral prayer. “That THEY ALL MAY BE ONE.” (John 17: 21).

2) To promote understanding, peace and unity among the various youths and strata of society in Nigeria, through the propagation of the Gospel.

3) To serve as an umbrella body for the defense & protection of the Rights of Christians Youths and Christianity as a faith in all its ramifications.

4) To act as a liaison Council, by means of which its member Churches through the blocs can consult together and when necessary, make common statements and take common actions.

5) To engage in and/or support Christian evangelism programs and projects aimed at reaching the country and the world for Christ To act as a vanguard of the spiritual and moral welfare for the nation.

6) To do such other things that will be incidental to the keeping with the Association as may be approved by the Youths National Executive Council (NEC) from time to time.

7) To create and sustain a sense of spiritual and national awareness and vigilance amongst Nigeria Christian.

8). The Youth wing makes Jesus Christ as revealed in the Scriptures the Centre of its entire works and shall promote the glory of God, by encouraging the growth and unity of the Churches, and by helping them to lead the nations Youths and her people to partake of Christ’s salvation and all its benefits through the power of the Holy Spirit.

WINGS OF THE ASSOCIATION

The State Executive Committee (SEC) of YOWICAN

The wings are:

1. Christian Student Council (CSC): COUNCIL shall be comprised of Heads of Christian Campus Fellowships and Christian Students Union in Tertiary and Secondary Schools.

2. National Economic Council (NEC) shall comprise of Financial Experts, Businessmen, Christian Entrepreneurs, selected across the five Blocs of CAN.

3. National Security Council (YOWICAN BRIGADE): shall be comprised of heads of Boys & Girls Brigade, Royal ambassadors & Girls Guide, Boys Scout etc. any Church paramilitary organization which is recognized by the denomination, shall be part of the Council.
